It's just not a very sensible purchase typically-speaking. There are people who simply dont want the cavernous space the stock brakes leave under 18 or 19 inch wheels, and they have zero intention of ever tracking the car, some are even averse to trackign the car and consider it "ragging" the car out. They like to cruise, detail/wash & wax, show, meet, etc and really have no use for a "true" BBK when their use is primarily aesthetics. So long as akebonos don't fuck up the braking performance in some way, then why should they care? They'll look better than the puny-looking stock calipers hanging off of over-sized rotors. You know, if you might be up for really pushing the car up near its limits one day or now and again, and you can afford it, why not buy a "true" BBK and be done with brakes once and for all?
